How It Works
The Almanac is a research intelligence publication delivered as a WordPress theme. It is not an app. It does not require installation. You visit the site, and it works.
The Journal Index
Every journal listed is verified against the Directory of Open Access Journals. We pull metadata — title, ISSN, publisher, license type, APC status — and present it without editorial overlay. When you see a journal in the Constellation, the data came from DOAJ within the last month.
The Funding Wire
Funding calls are sourced directly from funder websites. We verify each call's deadline, eligibility, and application URL before listing. When a deadline changes, we update the listing within 48 hours. When a call closes, we remove it.
The Correspondent
The Correspondent is a localStorage-based preference system, not a server-side AI. Your answers to the intake questions are stored in your browser. The matching rationales are pre-written templates selected by your answers, not generated by a language model. Nothing you tell the Correspondent leaves your device unless you explicitly save an item to your account.
The Dispatch
Dispatches are written by editors with expertise in their assigned disciplines. They are not automated summaries. Each dispatch is fact-checked against the source before publication.
Privacy
We do not use tracking cookies. We do not share your data with third parties. We do not build advertising profiles. The Almanac is funded by subscriptions, not by surveillance.
